Join us this Sunday, May 19, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, at Carroll Park (map) as we bring out a great selection of Yuba cargo bicycles to the We Bike Celebrate Moms Event. In case you haven’t heard of We Bike before, they’re an amazing local organization that promotes Women’s Empowerment through Bicycles. And we think nothing is more empowering than cargo bikes! Moms who transport their children by bike don’t just get tons of exercise; they get to experience the joy, freedom and independence of cycling every day.

The Celebrate Moms event will highlight a variety of cargo bikes and other kid-carrying accessories, such as child seats, trailers, and trail-a-bikes, from a number of New York City bicycle shops, including Bicycle Roots. Are you considering purchasing a cargo bike, but don’t want to visit four different bike shops for test rides?  On Sunday, you’ll be able to try out a Yuba Mundo, Yuba electric Mundo, Yuba Boda Boda, Xtracycle, Bakfiets, and Fietsfabriek, all in one place. Let the bike shops come to you!

The event is absolutely free of charge. In addition to all these great cargo bikes to demo, there will be face painting, temporary tattoos, and bike decorating for the kids, as well as a flat-fix-clinic and city biking Q&A for the parents. Oh, and dad’s are welcome, too.

Here’s the flyer. We hope to see you then.

Looks like fun!

Our new awning got installed yesterday. Check it out:

Isn’t it beautiful?

Thanks to City Signs for doing such beautiful work. If you’re looking to get a sign made, we would recommend them highly!

At our last store, we never got a sign installed. (As to why, that’s a long story…) And our customers often suffered as a result. They couldn’t find us! Now our sign proudly displays the name of our business in 3-foot-high letters. We think you’ll be able to find us now.

The sign is up. We’re putting the finishing touches on the store interior. Next we will beautify the rest of the storefront. Our opening day is fast approaching. Watch this space for a big announcement soon.

Today seemed like a good day to take some “before” pictures of our new store, which is located at 609 Nostrand Ave in Crown Heights, Brooklyn (click here for a map). We’re hard at work getting it set up properly, and we hope to open in 4 weeks or so. Here’s what our store looks like now:

Now that we’ve given you the grand tour, can you imagine what the space will look like when we open?

Of course, a beautiful store is just one part of the picture. Nothing is more important than friendly, knowledgeable, professional service, which is what Bicycle Roots is really known for. We can’t wait to open and serve the neighborhood. Watch this space for updates to find out exactly when that will happen!
